Jan 3 1999- The Trocadero, Philly - Step Ahead, Indecision, Shutdown, Hatebreed
Well, so much for this show being the victory tour show, only 2 of the bands
that were suppost to play showed up. Skarhead, All Out War, and Blood
For Blood didnt make it cause the weather was shitty, really slick
roads etc. So i guess thats a reasonable excuse. I was pissed
cause this is the third time i missed Blood For Blood and i
probably would'nt have gone if I knew they were'nt playing.
So right away i was bummed. But before the show my friend
and i were talking, and we pointed out that the dude from
step ahead was on stage. Step Ahead wasnt on the
original bill so we just assumed they were there hanging out. But
about 2 mins later step ahead came out, using shutdown's equipment
no words coulda been sweeter than, "Hey wassup were Step Ahead"
so they came out and played a bunch of the songs of there newest
release "...theres always hope" The band basically saved my night
or so i thought. Next out was indescision, who at the time
i didnt own any of there records, so i just kinda stood on the side
and looked on, and listend. They were really good, and they had a
new singer, who ran around the stage like a mad man, and talked about
how shitty his christmas was in between songs. Next up was shutdown,
who are amazing live. They played a few songs off there 7' and
pretty much all the songs on against all odd's. They even did a cover
of the classic judge New York crew, which was probably the higlight
of the show for me cause i got to sing some of it and tons of kids
jumped all around me and on top of me. Next up was hatebreed, another
awesome band with some sick songs. I dont think one person in the place
stood still, there were some big circle pits, tons of dancing and kids
killing eachother. About half way threw there set they took a break
jamie walked off stage, and just as he was walking off he said our
drummer really sucks, everyone throw shit at him, the drummer stood
up and taunted the crowd while people threw stuff, then jamie came back
out and offered the crowd anyone who would get up there and punch him
in the face a t shirt. It was pretty funny, noone got up though. Then
they went back to playing, blasted through 5 more songs, dedicated
a song to the bad luck 13 riot extravaganza, and everyone killed
each other some more. Hatebreed is becoming one of my favorite bands
to see live, just because when there dance parts come up people get
scared. Overall, this was a good show, considering i was pissed at first
but i kinda forgot how good shutdown and hatebreed were. As for step
ahead this was the last time i got to see them before there break up
so im glad i was there.

March 28 1999, The Trocadero, Philly - Hoods, Pissing Razors, Mushmouth, Candiria,
Pro - Pain, Hatebreed

A great show on a sunday but
i think everyone was on spring break, or the line up was just so good
that the turnout was huge. Got there about half way into Hoods set
and the place was allready goin off, noone standing around. Hoods played
a few songs off there newest ep, Endless Pain. They ended with a cover
of the AF/Madball classic friend or foe, which they did a really good
job of covering. Everyone was goin off for that. Next Up was Pissing
Razors, to be honest i had no idea who these guys were, and it didnt
really seem like the crowd did either, except for a few kids. They play
a style of like thrash, mixed in with some hardcore, and just straight metal.
At first it seemed like people didnt know what to think, because a metal
band was playing at a hardcore show, but as time went on there songs seemed
to get better and everyone started moving during some of there dance parts.
Not to bad. Next up was Mushmouth, what an amazing set. Opened it right up
with the title track on out to win, and everything seems a blur from there
i spent the entier time dancing and singing along. They did pretty much
all the songs on out to win, and everyone in the place was goin off, i
didnt see anyone on the floor that was'nt moving. Definetly a great set.
Next up was Candiria, Although im not a huge fan of the band, it seems
like they get better and better, or i just learn to tolerate them more or
something. Once again everyone was moving, even myself which i did'nt expect
sorry i cant tell you what they played cause i dont really own any of there
stuff, yet? Next up was Pro - Pain, who came out played, played more
and kept on playing till the crowd was tired. I thought they would take
a break in between songs and talk or drink some water or something, but for
almost a straight hour, they took about a total of a minutes break. I love
to see bands like this, cause i get tired out and somehow they are still playing.
Highlight of there set was Crush. Next up was hatebreed, i always think to myself
why is hatebreed headlining, when at the most they can play for 30 mins. But then
i realized why they headline, for 30 mins not one person stood still. They played
everything off satisfaction, and the under the knife stuff to. Jamie seemed really
angry and tauted the crowd, telling everyone to kill each other between every song.
Big circle pits, and everyone just goin off. Hatebreed headlines shows because
when there done, your just to damn tired.

April 18 1999 - The Trocadero, Philly - Shutdown, E - Town Concrete, Indescision,
Leeway

This show took place on a sunday, and as many shows as ive been to on
sunday ive never see such a little turnout for such great bands. First
up was Shutdown, they went on kinda early around 6, and there was very
few people. I kept thinking more would show, but did'nt. Shutdown
cut through there set pretty quick, mixing up some old stuff with new
stuff. Most people just stood there, not to much dancing goin on. Next
up was E-town concrete, still it seemed like very few people were there
which really suprised me, but after there first 2 songs alot of people
were packing in. E - Town played a couple of songs that are going to be
on there new album, which are allready out on 7'. The shit was really good.
They played No thanks, Cycles, On life to live, and a few other songs
from time to shine, and everybody was moving or singing along. Next up
was indescision, it seemed like half the people that showed up for E- town
left after they played, oh well, Indescision came out played some songs
off there latest release, To live and Die in New York. The singer told
some pretty funny stories in between songs, I guess he really likes to
tell stories. The people that were there, supported and sung along and
danced. There set was a good mix of old and new, which is cool. Finally
up was Leeway, it pissed me off that everyone left for this band. Why?
cause they were awesome, they come out, and the first thing they say is
the last time they played in Philly was in 89 w/ the bad brains. They had
broken up for about 4 years. These guys have been around for a long time
and played with everyone, and it shows in there music. Lots of old school
style hardcore mixed in with some funk. It was pretty cool to see a band that
has been gone for so long. Anyway, they played a shit load of songs, one song
which they had not played in like 12 years. They also did an awesome bad brains
cover. The show was somewhat dissapointing, just beacuse so few showed up and
lots of people just stood around, but overall it was worth it.

May 9 1999 - The Speak Easy Cafe - Soul Sick, Chikarra, Mushmouth,
Self Induced, Neck, Candiria

This show was a little weird. I hurried my ass of to get there thinking
there would be a huge turnout. I was wrong, the show was not suppost to
start until 6, but for some reason they made soul sick go on at 5. There
was hardly anyone in the place, like 10 people. This is the second time
i've seen soul sick and noone was there. I liked them alot more this time
if they had a cd out i woulda bought it. There singer was super pissed
cause they had to go on so damn early, i woulda been to. Next up was
Chikarra, I was suppost to see these guys last week but they didnt show
for some reason. Anyway, this was the first time i had heard chikarra but
i've heard good things. They were pretty good, did a full set of cool
originals, there a rap/metal/hardcore combo i thought they were pretty good.
I got a free 2 song demo (which i will put in the reviews). Next up was the
allmighty mushmouth, it seemed like everyone showed up at once when they
came on. They did a good job pumping the crowd up, and going right into
out to win. First 5 seconds i got kicked in the face, so i decided just
to stand back and get some good pictures. Mushmouth played awesome, there
were numerous fights and violence goin on which was pretty crazy. For some
reason the sound quality started sounding shitty when they played, but they
still played a good set. Then came self induced, i had never heard of them
before. I watched for about 5 mins before i walked out, i just was'nt into
them, i dunno if it was the sound system or just the band but, there was
alot of feedback. Next came Neck, once again i had heard tons of different
things about neck and didnt know what to expect. They came out first and
actually sounded like korn (i had heard this before but didnt believe it)
the singer had 2 different vocal styles, melodic, then screaming. The screaming
parts were cool. I dont wanna dis by saying they sound like korn, but that was
the first thing that jumped into my head, oh well. Next Candiria, chalk up another
time for me seeing these guys, the first few times i saw them i wasnt into it at all,
now after the 3rd then 4th time, im liking them alot more. Lots of people left
but the people who stayed tore shit up and made candiria feel welcome. We got an
interview with candiria and should be up on the page soon.

May 22 1999 - Collenbrook Baptist church - All Or Nothing, Some Ska Band,
Spunkoids.

ok, well i just got home from the all or nothing show, at the
Collenbrook baptist church in Drexel Hill. Well like every
Collenbrook show this one had some problems. NOT THE BANDS.
first up was all or nothing, a local band with alot of talent.
These guys kicked ass. Its to bad the collenbrook sucks,
cause bands like this deserve better. Anyway, there was about
100 kids at the show, there was some dancing going on, but the
"security" were being asshole when people bumed into eachother.
My friend got yelled at and almost kicked out. All or nothing
played, we hate ska but we hate goth kids more, revenge of the
pink bunnies, the all or nothing youth anthem, power crazy,
and the rest of there originals which was like 6 other songs.
These guys are fairly new and allready they have a shitload of
really good original songs. If they stick around you'll hear alot
about them. Next up, some ska band i saw before...no comment
during there set an argument broke out between the bouncer and
my friend AGAIN. so we walked outside. Finally was, The Spunkoids
a PUNK ROCK band from upper darby, some of there members are in all
or nothing. These guys are cool, totally punk with songs like boston
cream, inbred, i like cream cheese,STD'S, and a bunch more. During
there set my friend was running around, and he got pushed into the
"security" this time the "security gaurd" decided he had had it
and grabbed my friend by the neck, all the kids were jumping all around
screaming at the guy, a fight almost broke out between the security
and a bunch of the crowd. My friend was pissed and flipping on the guy.
My friend was thrown out. I guess the "security gaurd" does'nt understand
what a hardcore/punk rock show is, oh well fuck him.

May 23 1999 - Challengers, Bear DE - Dying, The Death of Us, My Body My
Blood, Dysphoria, 25 ta life

Drove all the way down to delaware for this one. Well i should'nt
complain its only like 30 mins away, but we got lost for a few mins
so it took us like 45 mins to get there. We Missed the first band
who's name was genetic dis ...something, i didnt get the whole name.
We got there just as Dying was about to go on. Dying is from PA, im
not sure where exactly. They were insane, the band members literaly
beat each other up on stage. Reminded me alot of Dillinger Escape
Plan, Or a small version of Bad Luck 13. They ran all around the
stage knocking shit over, hitting each other with there guitars.
They even took there shoes off???? In the end the bassist smashed
his bass of the speaker numerous times and broke it. There music
style is just as crazy as there stage presence, the music is all over
the place, odd timing etc. Next, the death of us, the entire bad
besides the drummer moved into the crowd to play. These guys were
New school metal core style, and im pretty sure they were a sxe band.
They played a good set of originals, and finished it off with a judge
cover of Fed Up, any band that covers JUDGE kicks ass. Next My Body
My blood, i had heard alot about these guys and was siked to see them.
They have a good old school style sound, with some rap mixed in. Every
kid in the place sung every lyric to every song. I guess these guys
are religious hardcore, but they kicked ass. They kept playing the
beginning of Madball's "SET IT OFF", but never played the whole song
but had every kid screaming set it off. Untill today i didnt really
know delaware had a widespeard hardcore scene, these guy's are
keeping DE in check. Then up was Dysphora, what can i say? One of the
best most brutal Pa hardcore bands. Alot of people left for these guys
but they fucken missed out cause Dysphoria ruled. Played alot
of stuff off Hope Without Reason, w/ Start Again, At Day's End,
Where You Ought To be and a bunch more. Gravity (there singer) was
dancing his ass of going crazy, he can fucken move. The people that
stayed danced and represented for Dysphoria. 25 TA LIFE did not play
i didnt find out they were'nt playin till half way through the show
oh well, it was still a good show other than the fact i was really
tired but oh well.

May 29 1999 - Lansdowne Friends School - Fire Down Below, A life once lost, Dying, Live Without, All
else Failed

This is the first show i ever went to at the Lansdowne Freinds school,
I missed a couple before cause of bigger shows. Well this place is
pretty cool, nice big dance floor and a stage, its kind of a mini gym.
First band to go on was Fire Down Below, i had never heard these guys
before but i read the lyrics and thought they were pretty funny. The
truth is i did not like this band, they were not in tune, they had 2
singers a girl and a guy, the girl read from a lyric sheet during one
of the songs, showing that they were un prepaired. Thats all im gonna
say. Next up, A life once lost, i've heard the name before but never
the music. Well, these guys were awesome, metal influenced hardcore
at its best. They had some really really good breakdowns, the music
was tight as hell and seemed very well rehearsed. After they played i talked
with the band about this site and told them about the pictures we
took going on the site, and that we did show reviews and album
reviews. The singer was kind enough to hook me up with a free
copy of there demo to review, they had just gone into the studio
and he said the demo was not the final, just an idea. Anyway,
good job guys. Next was dying, the band i came to see (besides all else failed)
I saw them last week, and was so impressed i came back to see them.
These guys play an insane blend of metal/hardcore and have an
awesome stage presence. The singer and bassist beat each other up,
the band swings there instruments hit each other roll around all over
the floor, crazy. They were playing minus a guitarist who, went to england,
but they still sounded good to me.
(There looking for a guitarist, if intersted contact me) Then came
live without, i had heard of live without, i forgot they were playing.
They are another metal/hardcore band from Pa. They set up all there
stuff right on the dance floor and were right together with the crowd
the whole time. Then, finally came Margaret Heater, from Baltimore
Md, they came out and told everyone to come in, but everyone started
to leave, i didnt know why untill the band was into there second
song and said that all else failed was'nt playing which pissed me off
so we left. Margaret Hatcher was a deftones style band, vocal effects,
strobe lights etc.

6/6/99 - Clubber Lang, God Forbid, IDK, Indecision, Candiria, Ensign,
Sick of it All

It took me an hour and a half to get to this show, getting lost in
Jersey's crazy intersections, and driving up and down the same streets,
i gotta say this show was worth every bit of it. This is probably the best
lineup for a show i've been to.

Clubber Lang - New Jersey Hardcore, Clubber Lang
did a great jump opening the place up, from the first song to the
last song everyone was going off. There were numerous fights, one that
started over a girl and the singer got involved by yelling at the kid
calling him a tough guy, trying to end the fight. Despite all the fights
they played a great set, consisting of alot of songs off there newest
record.

God Forbid - I did'nt know God Forbid was on the original bill, and
really have'nt heard much about them. To my suprise, they were realy
good. Playing a style of metal core mixed in with great drum's and
breakdowns combined. Some of the songs even had guitar solo's.
The drumset was extremely large, and nothing went to waste.
Once again, the place went absolutly crazy for these guys.
Not only was the music really good, it was well rehearsed and tight.

IDK - Well the show was getting off to a violent start, and these guys
stepped in at the perfect time. They play a very upbeat fast tempo
style of hardcore punk. Reminded me a little of Step Ahead. There was
alot of energy for these guys, and no fights. The last song they played
would be the highlight of there set, every single person in the place
singing along to every vocal and jumping on and off the stage.

Indecision - Another time for me seeing Indecision, and they were as I
expected, brutal. I spent most of there set on stage taking pictures.
I got some really good crowd shots, because everyone in the place was
once again going off. They played some older stuff, and some stuff
off to Live and Die In NYC. Artie, there singer once again told stories
of his life in between songs, how much he hated his job, the fucked up
government etc. He also ran around stage jumping all over the place,
the crowd did alot of the singing, including one girl in particular who
got on stage and sung parts of every song. Huge pile ons and stage diving
going on as well. Indecision announced at the end of there set that, this
show and every band playing was being taped for a live compilation. For
some reason when i got there, i had a feeling it would be being taped live
because of the mic's they hung on the ceiling and the 2 different sound
machines.

Candiria - Ahh, well Candiria came out and i think everyone was ready to
kill everyone. The pit really opened up and everyone was kickboxing, and
swinging. Candiria let everyone here a taste of there newest stuff, It was
the first time they were playing it live and it was insane, If you thought
what they were doing up till now was crazy, wait till you here the new stuff.
The crowd response was also excellent, and everyone seemed to love the new stuff.

Ensign - One of my favorite bands, i was so hyped up to see these
guys. They started off with that intro from the movie Halloween. and some people
in masks came out and opened shit up, people were going nuts just on the
Halloween intro so i could only imaging what was to come. From
Hallloween they went into page 32 and right away everyone was on stage
singing along to every word, the running off and diving into the crowd, kids
were flipping off stage and going nuts. I spent most of the time doing
just that, running on stage singin then jumping back down to dance. There
were huge pileons, ones i got stuck under a bunch of times, and the gang
vocals were incrdible, it felt like there was 50 kids on stage screaming
into one mic. They mixed up alot of stuff from Direction w/ alot of stuff
from Cast, Pale Horse, 15 years, Never Give In, The Road Less Traveled,
Hold, were played to name a few. The guitar players string broke after
like the third song, so while he put on a new string, Tim mentioned how
he though the YOT reunion was a bunch of bullshit, it seemed like the crowd
agreed.

Sick of it All - If it was'nt for Sick of it All I would'nt have thought to go to this show,
which i guess now seems kind of ingorant to say because this was such a great show.
The reason i wanted to see SOIA, was because i had not seen them since November
and i missed them when they came around with Slayer, and Next time they come
around on july 3, i wont be here. Well, SOIA lived up to my expectations and
played a great set. Openened it up with Potential For a Fall off there newest
Cd call to arms. Once again, everyone was going off, singing along, stage diving
and dancing. I had such a good time. SOIA did a good job, (and they always seem
to) mixing in old stuff with new stuff and in between. Song's like Friends Like
You, Clobbering Time, Injustice System, Sanctuary, Shut Me Out, Scratch the Surface,
and much more. Lou dedicated Shut Me Out to all the girls in the place, and
for the entire song there was an all girl pit, not a single guy was in it.
It seemed like everyone was having a good time, and I did'nt
see any fights, but i heard later there was. SOIA has been around forever, and
they still continue to play with as much energy as ever.

June 20 1999 - Disassociate, Mushmouth, Indecision, 25 Ta Life, Earth Crisis @ The TLA on South Street in Philly.

Disassociate
Well, we got there early enough to see these guys, but we could not
get in yet yo see them. Justin from Indecsion hooked us up on the
guestlist, but they kinda got there late. Thanks again to Justin
for the free pass. Sorry I could'nt give a review of Disassociate.

Mushmouth
Pa's finest, Mushmouth, what can i say. Every time I see these guys its
so great. I walked in just as they were starting with Out To Win. The
place was pretty opened up and noone was moving up. But the people
dancing made Mushmouth feel welcome enough. It seemed like the place
really got goin on there last song. Mushmouth did a bunch of songs
on Out To Win, w/ Fearless, Follower, Uncertain, and Smothered to
name a few. Once again Mushmouth lived up to my expectations.

Indecision
The last show I went to I saw Indecision, and I took pictures for the
entire set, so I was siked to not have to be shooting the camera.
Indecision started off good, They had the place really going until
the middle of hallowed be thy name when Justin's guiatar head
kinda blew up, I looked up on stage and saw a cloud of smoke just kind
of rising off it. They tried to fix it, and during this time Artie
talked to the crowd about the media and it's bullshiting about Kosovo.
Every time i see Indecision, I look forward to hearing his speaches
hahaha. Anyway they could'nt fix the head, and played one more song
minus Justin and that was it.

25 Ta Life
There was a really long wait in between Indecision and 25 ta life, because
25's guitarist and drummer got lost and had'nt showed up yet. The crowd
was really anticipating 25 ta life and when they finally came out everyone
in the place was either dancing, or trying to pile on top of everyone to
get close enough to Rick to sing. The first song they played was a new one
but it seemed like alot of people allready new the lyrics. 25 played
Strength Through Unity, Turning Point, Crucified, Took My Kindness For
Weakness, and 1, where it begins and a few more. Rick spoke about tough
guys and unity in between songs, everything was pretty positive for there
set. 25 ta life, did twice what i thought they would do it's been awhile
since i last saw them and forgot the kind of energy they bring when they play
live. Anyone who's seen 25 knows what im talking about.

Earth Crisis
I've only ever seen Earth Crisis once, and that was at a metal show and it was'nt
that great, Earth Crisis played good, but the crowd was just different. I've been
a fan of EC for awhile, and I really did not know what to expect from them live.
They came out, and everyone in the place was ready to move. I did'nt expect that
many people to stay for them, but i was all wrong. Notable stuff they played
Firestorm, All Out War, Ecocide, No Allegience, Gamorrah's Season Ends,
The diciplin, Forced March, and alot more stuff from Dectroy the Machines
and there newest album. All Out War and Firestorm had everyone in the place
piling on and goin off. At the end of Gamorrah's Season there were some of the
biggest pile ons of the night, ton's of people jumping all over and screaming
I AM STRAIGHT EDGE!. Earth Crisis had alot of energy goin and the crowd response was
really good. There set was much better than i had expected and were more than worth staying around to see.

July 3, 1999 - The Trocadero in Philly - In My Eyes, Kid Dynamite, Good Riddance, Sick of it All

In My Eyes
Well I got to the show a little late, because i had just gotten back
and was'nt even expecting to make it out. After standing outside the
troc for about 25 mins I finally got in to witness In My Eyes. I've
only heard a few of In My Eye's songs but I had heard lots of good
things. The songs i heard were good, and had the place moving a lot.
They sound kind of Youth Crew style hardcore, with that Boston edge.
They spoke about straight edge and the scene in Philly in between
songs. If i was'nt low on money i would have picked up the In My Eye's
cd.

Kid Dynamite
The pride of Philadelphia. There is nothing i can say about this amazing
band. They seem to play Philly and around the area alot and I have yet to
make it out to one of there shows. I've been a fan for awhile and was real
siked to see them. Everyone in the place seemed like they were there for Kid
Dynamite. Tons of good sing alongs, crowd surfing and every bit of mayhem you
would expect from the home town crowd. Kid Dynamite played almost all the songs
of here S/T full length, and a song that's on there Split 7" that i had not heard.
They even played a new song that was about 25 seconds long. Kid Dynamite kicks
ass.

Good Riddance
Good Riddance is pretty big, although I've heard of them I never really heard the
music to much. I kinda just stood away and listened and watched. They play hardcore
punk rock and the place seemed to be really enjoying them. They played alot of songs
and noone stopped the whole time. They were pretty good and seemed pretty energetic.

Sick of it All
I was not even suppost to be at this show, so i drove down to Jersey to see these guys
about 3 weeks earlier. Sick of it All has been one of my favorite bands for a long time
and they never are a disappointment to me live. Seeing Sick of it All in Philly is always
great, whenever they play the Troc the place always seems to fill up and everyone shows up.
They came out and opened it up with Let go and from there went into Scratch The Surface.
Lou jumped into the crowd right where i was and i even got to scream into the mic. I was
so tired before this show from my long week before, But Sick of it All has the energy
and i was wide awake. The floor was really slippery because it was like 90 degrees in the
place, i though i was going to slip and fall on my head. There entire set was mixed up with
the old new and in between stuff and even for the sever hot not a single person in the place
was standing still. Sick of it All played for a good hour and by the end people were still
wanting more. What else can i say?

July 30, 1999 - The Trocadero in Philly - The Akaline Trio, Kid Dynamite, Face To Face

The Akaline trio
First up was chicago's Akaline Trio. They opened the show up with there
blend of Emo new age style punk. Not to band for a band i have not heard
of. Although not many people were moving throughout there set it seemed
like alot of people enjoyed seeing them.

Kid Dynamite
Second time seeing Kid Dynamite this month at the Trocadero. Kid Dynamite
is the Philly hometown hero's and everyone there knew who these guys were.
After what seemed like a long set up time kid dynamite came out and with one
pluck on the guitar, the entire place opened up and those up against the barriers
were allready getting crushed. Kid Dynamite played what they said to be there longest
set ever, Because everyone just kept begging for more. they played just about every song
on there self titled debut, one cover and 2 of the songs off the split with 88 fingers
louie. During there set they also took the time to announce the Stalag's closing
and the benefit show, up till know i had not gotten any official word on its closing.

Face To Face
I've been a Face to Face fan for a long time and they are one of the few bands I like
that I had'nt seen. So i was siked for them. The heat in the place was terrible while
waiting for the band to come on and it just got worse as they played. They came out and
opened up with a song off the new album, which seemed very emo the crowd reaction was
one you have to see. They continued there set with old and new, including some classics
such as disconnected. They kept asking the crowd what it wanted to hear... and gave the
choice of OLD or NEW everyone screamed OLD...threw the heat the crowd was non stop
and everyone on the floor including myself wearing a shirt were feeling like they
jumped in a pool with all there clothes on, the floor was slippery and people were falling
all over. The show seemed pretty positive, except for a few fights that broke out, one
which happened to the kid standing in front of me, for what reason i dont know, all i saw
was him get jawed then kicked in the face twice, he was bleeding pretty bad and seemed dazed.
All together face to face played for an hour. There new cd was selling for the price of only
5$...look for a review.

10/17/99 - The Trocadero Theater, Philly Pa - Buried Alive, Saves The
Day, The Dillenger Escape Plan, Kid Dynamite, Snapcase

This was one incredible line up for a show, each band totally
diverse in there styles of music, came together to play what seemed
to be one of the better shows i've seen at the Trocadero, it was sold
out as well, so the house was packed. The bands were calling this
the Steve Evetts Showcase tour, because steve evetts had produced each
of there records

First Up, after a long wait in line, was Buried Alive. I have to admit
im not a big fan of there new record, Its the style of heavy chuga
chuga breakdowns that i normally love, but it just seemed to go by
quick and not really do anything for me. But my opinion of them changed
live, there songs flew by and caused the biggest hole in the dance
floor of kids kick boxing. There breakdowns being very similar to
bands like hatebreed, you can imagine everyone how was going off.
They did a great job of opening the place up and changed my impression
of them totally.

Saves The Day, i've heard this band hunderds of times on local radio
shows, and I did'nt find anything wrong with it. They play a very
poppy emo style of music, not exactly my favorite style, but something
i can listen to from time to time. Usualy i get bored seeing emo
bands, but Saves the Day was incredibly energetic and there sing
alongs were real good. I'll end up picking up there record eventually.

The Dillenger Escape Plan, in my opinion, for a serious band that
makes up a very talented group of musicians, these guys has the craziest
stage presence ever. Musically, If you were to breakdown every instrument
one by one, you would find everything to be very hard to play, and
probably wouldnt think to combine everything together. I'm not a fan
of there records, i can listen to it from time to time, but there live
performance is why i love this band, its very few times where i can just
stand aside and watch a band and have a good time. Dillenger does this for
me, i stand and watch the singer swing his mic around, his the other band
members, knock them over, lye down on the floor and scream, watch
the guitar players wrestle there instrumets, in the midst of flashing
lights and strobes, and be completly entertained. These guys are evil,
the scariest part about them is, untill they start playing the music
they seem completly like your average everyday people, the singer comes
out and doesnt say a word except maybe for hi, but once everything gets
goin its a site that needs to be seen to be described. If these guys
play near you go see them, even if you cant stand the music.

Kid Dynamite, THE HOMETOWN HARDCORE HEROES, wow, this is my third time
seeing KD at the troc and they seem to get better and beteer every time.
There one of the most energetic bands to see, there sing alongs are great,
they have a good message, and there from Philly. This band has achieved
sucsess from many angles, and are greatful to the loyal philly fans for
sticking by them, and so they always put on a great show for us. They
played just about everysong off there self titled cd, A bunch of new stuff
and finally did the black flag cover, RISE ABOVE which were the biggest sing
alongs of the night.

Snapcase, i've been into this band a long time, yet, i havent seen them
before. Last august was the last time they played here and before that was
warped tour, and I missed both. So i was pretty excited to see them. First
thing was there intro, It was a strange recording playing, that I think
might have had bag pipes but im not exactly sure. But it doesnt sound
anything like the bands music at all. I looked over at a friend to say,
hey this intro is weird, but as i started to say it, I was on the other
side of the dance floor and caboose was playing, there intro is totally
great because your not prepared when they take stage. Caboose
got the entire place moving, and didnt stop the whole way through.
There performance was much better than i would have expected, even though
i am a big fan of them. They managed to mix in everything from there first
7" to about 4 songs off there new unreleased album. The new songs were
great as well. They also mentioned that they wanna do to same tour with
the same bands again very soon, which would be great. So if you miss
this line up the first time around, catch it the second time cause its
well worth it for 8$.

Nov 6 1999 - Mushmouth, Dysphoria, A Life Once Lost, Diecast, BloodRust

A Life Once Lost
Well, I did'nt get to see a life once lost because they showed up late,
and by the time they got on, i was hungry and went to wawa. Anyway i got
lost comin back from Wawa, and got back in time to see there last song. It
did'nt seem to bad to miss them because i was seeing them the night after
this show.

Bloodrust
I had never heard nor seen these guys before but they were pretty funny.
after they got everything set up some guy came out and got on the mic,
he was wearing some long coat, next thing he says something about the back
street boys, takes off his coat, and all he's wearing is a g-string.
Musically these guy were really metal, Screamy vocals with rap parts added
in. There last song another guy got on stage and sung with them, and that
was prolly the best song of there set. It was a really good blend of rap and
metal, and the 2 singers made it all the better.

Dysphoria
Holy shit, this band is insane, there music is incredible and indescribable.
There songs are like one huge breakdown, and every time i see them, more
and more people go crazy for them. They played a bunch of songs off Hope Without
Reason, and had everyone going off. One guy broke the chandelier on the ceiling
with a backpack. Dysphoria has something new coming out soon, so be on the lookout
for it, and if they play near MAKE SURE you go see them.

Mushmouth
The last time i saw mushmouth, there singer Chris was'nt in the band anymore.
I don't know what happened to him, he left hardcore and came back. Chris Seemed
extra pissed off for this show, and in true mushmouth fashion, got the crowd
riled up by talking shit. Once again everyone went crazy, this was'nt the best
mushmouth performance i have seen, but it was definetly good.

Diecast
This show was kinda far away from me, and the people i was with had to be home early
so i didnt get to stay for these guys. sorry.

Novermber 7, 1999 - Collenbrook Church, Upper Darby Pa Resentment, Pool Hall Brawl, With Immortality, A Life Once Lost

Resentment
Resentment is a fairly new band, and i had heard good things about them. They lived up to all the
hype and were really good. They play a blend of metal and hardcore, with good breakdowns,
screamy vocals, and they have an incredible bass player. For a new band, these guys have alot
of potential, everyone in the place went off for them, and made them feel welcome. They have
a demo out now, pick up a copy if you get a chance.

Pool Hall Brawl
I think, 90% of the people at this show came for Pool Hall Brawl, The Collenbrook was sold out, and
everyone packed in front of the stage to see them. As usual at the local PHB shows, there
were giant pileones, and tons of dancing. The biggest pile on's of the night came from The Third Nail.
They unvailed a new song, which was, incredible to say the least, The song blows everything
i have heard them do till now out of the water, If they keep heading in this direction there bound to
be successful.

With Immortality
This band was not even suppost to play this show, but snuck themselves in as A Life Once Lost,
and played 5 songs. Lots of people had left after Pool Hall Brawl, but enough stayed and showed W/I
a good time.I wonder sometimes how there singer can even talk after they play shows. T
here bass player, played in his socks for some reason. After this show, W/I was band from ever playing
Collenbrook again, i think they meant for that to happen.

A Life Once Lost
I had missed ALOL the night before this show and was pretty syked to see them, Alot of people showed
up to see this band, they have been getting there name out pretty good latly. The only thing im gonna mention about there set, is the fact that they were shutdown, and one of the guys that runs the place, came up and started yelling at the singer, the band kept playing, and without the help of a mic, the singer screamed the vocals as loud as possibly, right in the face of the guy trying to shut them down,
it was hilarious. Anyone who didnt like this band before prolly thinks there pretty damn cool now, haha.
